Payroll is one of those things that has to be right every single time. Miss an RTI submission, get a pension contribution wrong, or pay someone late, and it's not just an admin error, it's someone's income. I take that seriously, which is why I don't try to run payroll entirely in-house.
How this actually works
Payroll on this service is delivered in partnership with a specialist payroll provider I've worked with and trust, with me coordinating and overseeing the whole thing. You get one point of contact, me, and one standard of care. You're told exactly who handles what, in writing, before anything begins, so there's no confusion about who's doing what or who to call if something looks off. I'm not going to pretend this is a fully in-house service dressed up to sound bigger than it is. It isn't, and I'd rather you knew that upfront than find out later.
What's included
- Monthly or weekly payroll processing, run to your business's actual pay cycle
- RTI (Real Time Information) submissions to HMRC, every pay run, on time
- Payslips, P60s and P45s produced and distributed properly
- Auto-enrolment pension compliance, contributions, assessments and the paperwork that goes with them
- Statutory pay (sick pay, maternity and paternity pay) and starter and leaver processing
Who needs this
Any limited company with employees, from a single director paying themselves a salary through PAYE, to a small team of five or six. It also covers businesses bringing on their first employee and needing auto-enrolment set up correctly from that person's start date, currently triggered once an employee earns above £10,000 a year and falls within the qualifying earnings band of £6,240 to £50,270. Getting that assessment wrong at the start tends to cause more work later than doing it properly the first time.
What good payroll looks like
Payslips land when they should. RTI submissions go to HMRC before the deadline, not after. Pension contributions are assessed correctly and paid on time, so The Pensions Regulator never has a reason to come looking. Starters and leavers are processed the same week they happen, not weeks later once someone chases. When it's done badly, it shows up as a late RTI submission, a missed auto-enrolment deadline, or an employee querying a payslip that doesn't match what they were told. Small mistakes, but the kind that cost trust fast.
How this fits with the Clarity Package
Payroll runs alongside the Clarity Package for clients who have employees, or can be taken on its own if payroll is the only thing you need managed. Either way, accountability for the whole process sits with me. I don't hand it off and hope it goes well, I stay across every pay run.
